2013 Aston Martin Vanquish

Aston Martin unveiled the Project AM310 Concept at Italy. The concept showed how the future successor to the DBS would look. Aston Martin later announced that the concept would be put into production as the all new 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish.
Aston Martin Vanquish

The car features an all new interior based on the one found in the exclusive Aston Martin One-77. The standard interior is trimmed in hand stitched leather and alcantara available in a range of colours. The centre stack features an improved infotainment system over the one found in the DBS. The car is available as either a 2-seater or 2+2.
The Vanquish uses an upgraded version of Aston Martin’s flagship V12 engine with a power output of 573 PS (421 kW; 565 bhp) at 6,750 rpm and torque of 620 N·m (460 lb·ft) at 5,500 rpm. Like most Aston Martins, the engine is front mid mounted with the power going to the rear wheels. It uses a fully catalysed stainless steel exhaust system with active bypass valves. The Vanquish uses an updated touchtronic2 transmission, Aston Martin's automatic gearbox, and unlike the DBS is only available as an automatic. It will be the first Aston Martin available with launch control.

2013 Tesla Roadster

Tesla Roadster

The 2013 Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car produced by the electric car firm Tesla Motors in California between 2008 and 2012.

The Roadster was the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle in serial production for sale in the United States in the modern era. Since 2008 Tesla has sold more than 2,400 Roadsters in 31 countries through September 2012. Tesla began producing right-hand-drive Roadsters in early 2010. The Roadster has a base price of US$109,000 in the United States, GB£86,950 in the United Kingdom, A$191,888 in Australia, and €84,000 in continental Europe. As an electric vehicle, the Roadster also qualifies for several government incentives in many nations. In 2013 this car will be great alternative sport car.

Battery system

Connected power supply
Tesla Motors refers to the Roadster's battery pack as the Energy Storage System or ESS. The ESS contains 6,831 lithium ion cells arranged into 11 "sheets" connected in series; each sheet contains 9 "bricks" connected in series; each "brick" contains 69 cells connected in parallel (11S 9S 69P). The cells are of the 18650 form-factor commonly found in laptop batteries. Sources disagree on the exact type of Li-Ion cells - GreenCar says lithium cobalt oxide (LiCo), while researchers at DTU/INESC Porto state lithium manganese oxide (LMO). LiCo has higher reaction energy during thermal runaway than LMO.
The pack is designed to prevent catastrophic cell failures from propagating to adjacent cells (thermal runaway), even when the cooling system is off. Coolant is pumped continuously through the ESS both when the car is running and when the car is turned off if the pack retains more than a 90% charge. The coolant pump draws 146 watts.
A full recharge of the battery system requires 3½ hours using the High Power Connector which supplies 70 amp, 240 volt electricity; in practice, recharge cycles usually start from a partially charged state and require less time. A fully charged ESS stores approximately 53 kWh of electrical energy at a nominal 375 volts and weighs 992 lb (450 kg).
Tesla Motors stated in February 2009 that the current replacement cost of the ESS is slightly under US$36,000, with an expected life span of 7 years/100,000 mi (160,000 km), and began offering owners an option to pre-purchase a battery replacement for US$12,000 today with the replacement to be delivered after seven years. The ESS is expected to retain 70% capacity after 5 years and 50,000 miles (80,000 km) of driving (10,000 miles (16,000 km) driven each year). Tesla Motors provides a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on the Roadster with an optional 4 year/50,000 mile extended warranty available at an "additional cost" (2008 Roadster buyers received the 4/50 extension at no cost while later purchasers need to pay). A non-ESS warranty extension is available for US$5,000 and adds another 3/36 to the coverage of components, excluding the ESS, for a total of 6 years for 72,000 mi (116,000 km).

Tesla charging unit

Recharging

The Tesla Roadster uses a proprietary charging connector, although Tesla sells a mobile adapter that enables recharging with an SAE J1772-2009 connector. The vehicle can be recharged using:
  • A wall-mounted 208–240 V, 70 A maximum current Home Connector. This appears to be an OEM version of the TS-70 charging station from ClipperCreek.
  • A portable 120–240 V, 40 A maximum current Universal Mobile Connector cable that can plug into a NEMA 14-50 receptacle and other 240V receptacles using adapters.
  • A portable 120 V, 15 A maximum current Spare Mobile Connector cable that plugs into a standard North American domestic socket.
Charging times vary depending on the ESS's state-of-charge, the available voltage, and the available circuit breaker amp rating (current). In a best case scenario using a 240 V charger on a 90 A circuit breaker, Tesla documents a recharging rate of 56 miles (90 km)-of-range for each hour charging; a complete recharge from empty would require just under 4 hours. The slowest charging rate using a 120V outlet on a 15 A circuit breaker would add 5 miles (8.0 km)-of-range for each hour charging; a complete recharge from empty would require 48 hours.

2013 Volkswagen Eos

The 2013 Volkswagen Eos is a four-seat retractable hardtop coupé convertible, introduced in 2006 as the successor to the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet. The Eos is Volkswagen's first production coupe since the last Corrado in 1995.

Roof design

The Eos incorporates into its five-piece folding roof an integrated and independently sliding glass sunroof — making the Eos the only retractable hardtop of this kind. The roof folds automatically into the trunk in 25 seconds, thereby reducing trunk space from 10.5 to 6.6 cubic feet (300 to 190 L)
The roof was designed and is built by OASys, a subsidiary of Webasto Germany.

Inception, production and history

Volkswagen Eos

2004 Concept C

Prior to production, the Eos was shown because the thought C thought automotive at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show — designed by a team headed by Peter Schreyer, Head of Volkswagen style in Wolfsburg. different sources attribute the planning of the Eos specifically to Slovenian parliamentarian Lešnik.

The production Eos, made at the AutoEuropa plant in Portuguese Republic, was bestowed in Sep 2005 at the Frankfurt on the Main Motor Show, with the North yank introduction at the l. a. automobile Show in Jan, 2006.

Unlike the Cabrio, that was a convertible version of the Golf hatchback, the Eos could be a standalone model with all-new body panels, though it shares the platform and elements from the Volkswagen Golf (MK5). The distance matches the Golf Mk5 and Jetta.

Eos White Night (2009-present)

The White Night edition is a special edition with custom wheels, custom black interior and a black and white colour scheme package. It includes Candy White-coloured body, Deep Black Pearlescent-coloured roof, cherry-red LED tail lights, 18-inch Budapest wheels. Other features include black mirror covers, radiator grille and trim strips, black nappa leather seats, door and side trim and black steering wheel with light-coloured seams, trim strips and radio trim in Candy White, Sill panel strips with White Night letters. Other features include Climatronic climate control system, sports chassis lowered 15 mm (0.6 in) and heated front seats.
The car had base MSRP of €33,140. This option is available with all non-V6 models.

Facelift

Volkswagen Eos
Facelift Volkswagen Eos (Europe)
A facelifted Volkswagen Eos appeared in late 2010, and will go on sale as a 2012 model outside Europe.
The Volkswagen concern has no plans to build a top performance version of the Eos (called Eos R), as they did not want its cabriolet to be powered by a high-revving engine, and as the recent top-performing versions have V6s which while powerful are considered too heavy for a sporty offshoot. However, there are rumors that there is an in-house Eos R in the works, and it is speculated that it's likely to get a tuned 3.6 litre VR6 engine and 4motion all-wheel drive system instead of front-wheel drive.

Production

The Eos is produced in Volkswagen's AutoEuropa factory in Palmela, Portugal. Although production started in late 2005, first deliveries were delayed due to a wind noise problem.

International markets

The Eos was released in Europe in the first quarter of 2006, and in North America in the third quarter of 2006. Right-hand drive market Japan began sales in October 2006 followed by New Zealand and Australia in January 2007. It was released in South Africa in the second quarter of 2007.
